Lewis Edney
I went to Fresno State and played football for 2 years. Then, I joined my cousin and NRHS legend, Johnny Counts, on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. That led to tryouts with NFL teams and a stint scouting for the Baltimore Colts, based in Denver. I returned to New Rochelle and worked with the youth bureau of the NR Police Department before switching to Westchester County Corrections. I returned to college at University of North Carolina, where I got my degree and played basketball with Lawrence Taylor.

When I retired in 2003, I moved to Baltimore to be with my grand-kids and I remain there today. I’m very proud of my grandson, Khalil Edney, who made the basketball shot heard ‘round the world, 2013-edition, for NRHS last March and was a finalist for an ESPY award.
